National Pike Steam, Gas & Horse Association Show
Back to Top of ListThe National Pike Steam, Gas & Horse Association Show is one of those unique shows you just have to go see yourself. Held twice a year in Brownsville, this display of antique machinery and engines of all kinds, plus vintage tractors, construction equipment, steam and portable engines, shingle mills, rock crushers and more is fun for the whole family. The display is spread out over 100 acres, so there’s plenty to see, but we highly recommend checking out the demonstrations of all these mighty machines and the live blacksmith demonstration.
The National Pike Steam, Gas & Horse Association Show is May 16-17 at 222 Spring Rd., Brownsville, PA 15417. If you miss this one, don't worry: The summer show is August 7-9.

National Road Pike Days Festival
Back to Top of ListKnown as the "longest festival in America," the National Road Pike Days Festival (also known as the Pike Days Festival or just Pike Days in some places) spans a whopping 90 miles from Cumberland, MD, all the way to Wheeling, WV, passing directly through Washington County. The festival is always the third weekend in May, and every town's celebration is different from the last, so we highly recommend taking a road trip and checking out as many celebrations as you can. Scenery Hill and Claysville are the biggest hubs for the festival in the county, and both are planning a full schedule of live entertainment, demonstrations and other activities while hosting tons of food and craft vendors, plus the iconic wagon train.
The National Road Pike Days Festival is May 16-17 (the website for the festival says May 14-17, but the celebrations in Washington County are May 16-17) along Route 40. For more info, visit the fest's website here.

Greater Pittsburgh Food Truck Festival
Back to Top of ListHere's one we know people wait all year for: the Greater Pittsburgh Food Truck Festival returns to Hollywood Casino at the Meadows. With dozens of the region's best food trucks in attendance to sample from, we think it may be best if you set aside not just one day, but the entire weekend for this fest. The festival even offers a sampler ticket deal where attendees can sample the best and/or most signature culinary creations from participating food trucks. After you've eaten your fill, browse the market or head to the stage to check out the live music lineup going throughout the whole weekend.... then, maybe hit the food trucks again for dessert. Just a suggestion.
The Greater Pittsburgh Food Truck Festival is May 22-24 at Hollywood Casino at the Meadows. For more info and to grab your sampler tickets, visit the event's site here.
