Saturday, May 3: Running of the Wools
Back to Top of ListOn Saturday, downtown Washington will be fleeced with excitement for all things sheep related during Running of the Wools, an annual event celebrating Washington County’s deep-rooted history in agriculture through nothing other than: Sheep racing. Cue the sheep puns.
Fun fact: In the 19th century, Washington was the number one exporter of wool in the nation, which means an event like Running of the Wools just makes sense. After all, what better way to honor our agricultural heritage than to set a bunch of sheep loose on the streets of downtown Washington? In addition to the shear delight that are the races, the day’s festivities include a breakfast crawl, vendors in the Community Pavilion, a children’s area, educational demonstrations and more that will make this event wooly unforgettable.
Sunday, May 4: Free Museum Day
Back to Top of ListIf Running of the Wools wasn't enough fun for you, surely exploring all of Washington County during Free Museum Day will satisfy you.
