Adventure is sprouting again in Scenery Hill, and this time, it’s personal.
Wonsettler Physical Therapy (WPT) invites you to dig deep and get a little dirty at the 3rd Annual WPT Farm Games, happening Saturday, July 19, on the scenic hills of the Wonsettler family farm.
The Challenge
Back to Top of ListFarm Games isn't your average fitness challenge: Imagine a mix of obstacle course races like the Spartan or Tough Mudder, but with a down-to-earth, all-inclusive twist. The Farm Games are about movement, fun, and camaraderie—not medals or finish times.
“We created the Farm Games to take the pressure off and bring the joy back to physical activity,” says Cliff Wonsettler, physical therapist and owner of WPT. “It’s not about being the best. It’s about trying something new and maybe laughing through a little mud.”
Open to all ages and skill levels, the event offers three course options:
-
A 1-mile course for kids (under age 16)
-
A 1.25-mile beginner course
-
A 3-mile advanced course
The Course
Back to Top of ListParticipants will take on natural, farm-inspired obstacles like climbing hay bales, swinging sledgehammers into stumps, carrying hay or buckets, crawling, climbing, and even shoveling a little mushroom manure. You’ll wade through creeks, run (or walk) through pastures, tackle a barn maze, and finish strong at WPT’s clinic.
Since the race is for everyone no matter ability or comfort level, each obstacle includes a bypass option and support so that anyone can participate at a level right for them, even if certain challenges feel out of reach.
“The goal isn’t perfection — it’s progress,” Cliff explains. “We want people to feel strong, supported, and surprised by what they can do. You can walk the whole thing and still have a blast.”
Beyond the Farm
Back to Top of ListWhile the mud, muscles, and movement may be the draw, the heart of the WPT Farm Games lies in something far more meaningful: building community, fostering connection and finding courage.
Everyone kicks off the course together, but each person completes it at their own pace and in their own way. Along the route, participants support one another—cheering, laughing, and lifting each other up to create a one-of-a-kind experience.
“We watch people accomplish things they never imagined they could,” says Cliff Wonsettler. “And they’re not doing it solo—they’re surrounded by encouragement from friends, family, and even total strangers. That’s what makes this event so powerful.”
This year’s event is also gaining momentum in the local business scene. Joe Bossong, owner of Bossong Plumbing, is using the Farm Games as a team-building adventure, inviting his staff, their families, and friends to take on the course together. “It’s a great way to unplug from work, strengthen our bonds, and tackle something exciting as a group,” Joe explains.
Bossong Plumbing’s involvement is a prime example of how the Farm Games bring people together—across departments, companies, and communities. Businesses interested in participating are encouraged to get in touch to explore group sign-ups, sponsorships, or volunteer roles.
