Millennials have started to take over the foodservice industry. These “foodies,” as they’re known on social media, look for many things when it comes to their dining experiences.

Are they local? Do they offer W-iFi? Are there drink specials? Can I watch the game?

According to new research from the global law firm, CMS, millennials now make up nearly a third of restaurants’ annual revenue spending 13 percent of their total income on eating out.

As a local, homegrown Washington, PA “millennial,” I have always been immersed in the community and have been able to literally “taste” the county.

Bacon, Bourbon and Beer

This local gem offers so much more than just bacon, bourbon and beer. They have top-quality bourbon, local-crafted wine, a uniquely tailored menu and an atmosphere that welcomes sports fans, liquor aficionados and foodies alike.

They offer daily specials, local events and homemade goodies. This Washington County hot spot has also recently started serving brunch. No matter what you’re craving, no matter the time, “B3,” located at 1000 Park Place Dr. Washington, PA, should be your go-to spot.

If you’re looking for a recommendation, I suggest The Blazin’ Cajun with a two ounce pour of Four Roses Single Barrels bourbon.

Chicco Baccello

Chicco Baccello, located at 239 S. Main St. Washington, PA, is more than just a local coffee shop.

The cozy ambiance of Chicco Baccello allows for a peaceful place for reading, meetings and catching up with friends. They offer handcrafted beverages, delicious sandwiches and daily specials. You can always count on them to host some really rad local events too.

The staff is so friendly and knows many of the “regulars” by name and order. Voted as “best local coffee shop and sandwich” in previous years, Chicco Baccello offers a “family-like” experience and makes you feel right at home.

My recommendation is a “Chicco Baccello” latte with a “Jimmy” and fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies.

Fortuitea Cafe

Let’s be honest… eating healthy in today’s society is more challenging than ever. With packed schedules, easy access to fast food and added sweetener in almost everything, finding a place that serves only healthy, gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian options can be difficult.

At Fortuitea Cafe, located at 1445 Washington Rd. Washington, PA, only the freshest ingredients are used on their incredibly diverse menu.

From their own version of the impossible burger and pizza Friday, to their cheesecakes and baked goods, they have something for everyone — regardless if you’re vegan or gluten free.

If you’re looking for a recommendation, I suggest the Mexican Black Bean Hummus Wrap or the Pizza Bianca.
