Every year, residents and visitors alike eagerly anticipate the return of an event of the season: Canonsburg’s Old Fashioned Christmas, returning December 6 – 7, 2024.
The town of Canonsburg is transformed into a winter wonderland under thousands of twinkling white lights during festivities officially recognized by VisitPA as one of Pennsylvania’s most “Hallmark movie-esque” locations.
This 2-day event has evolved significantly over the years, growing itself from a simple community tree lighting to an iconic holiday celebration attracting thousands of visitors every year. With so much going on, we thought we’d break the entire thing down for you so you know exactly what to expect at the iconic Canonsburg’s Old Fashioned Christmas.

While there is no Christmas Parade this year, there is a very exciting new addition to the event: new in 2024 is the Christmas Drone Show! You won't want to miss this new and very exciting holiday display happening on Saturday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m.

The big event of Friday night is the tree lighting ceremony! Gather with friends, family and the community to celebrate the official kickoff of the holiday season.
Christmas carols at Pike & Central with St. Oscar Romero Parish Choir. Follow the strolling carolers to the tree lighting ceremony, which begins at 6 p.m. with welcome remarks followed by the tree lighting in front of the Canonsburg Borough Building.
Gather 'round as Mrs. Claus spins enchanting tales of the North Pole, spreading the joy of the season through the magic of storytelling. It's a delightful experience for the young and young at heart. Story Time will take place at All About Books with TLC at 11 West Pike Street.

Christmas Train Display - Make sure to stop by the enchanting Christmas train display at Well Oiled at 102 West Pike Street.
Santa’s Reindeer Games - Kids of all ages will enjoy various holiday themed games, prizes and face painting in front of the Canonsburg Borough Building!
Christmas Raffle Fundraiser - Enter the raffle in the town center for a chance to win over $3,000 in gift certificates and merchandise donated by various Christmas market vendors!
Letters to Santa (December 6 – December 14) - Send your letter to Santa at his special mailbox on the corner of Central Ave. and Pike Street!
Canonsburg’s Old Fashioned Christmas has multiple shopping areas throughout the event with over 60 local and craft vendors of all kinds. From wineries and distilleries, to coffee, hot sauce, ceramics, wood crafts, pet supplies, handmade jewelry, candles and soap, candy, honey and so much more, you can check everyone on your Christmas list off at one event. If all the activities and shopping make you hungry, you're in luck: the event is also packed with plenty of food trucks serving up your favorite holiday eats, treats and drinks. Just to list a few: Bado’s Pizza, Wild River Kettle Korn, Mediterranean Tastes, State Fair Mini Donuts, Smoke This, Ambridge Italian Villa and more will all be ready for when you when you decide you need a tasty break from all the holiday action.
